the Quiet Stars

Inspired by the transformative power of Nature to reconnect us to what it is to simply be, be human.

New paintings by artist Jason Engelund are inspired by the transformative power of Nature. “My work is a reaction to the amplified tensions in the world today. The remembrance of nature can help the world remain humane. The goal of the artworks is to channel that feeling of nature to keep us connected to our authentic selves and from there move with a pragmatic idealism.”

Engelund creates paintings on canvas and linen using acrylic paint, and photographic collage elements including cyanotype on muslin and prints on paper. Engelund’s mark making is energetic and balanced drawing from abstract expressionism and improvisation. Engelund says in his studio he uses the prompt “What would the cave painters paint today?” and draws on philosophy to guide his answers in creating his abstracted symbolism.

Jason Engelund’s artworks are available on Artsy, represented by Ideel Art Gallery Paris, London.
