This was a particularly challenging piece, as is any with un-editable action painting marks, and a complex collection of my techniques and ideas coming together. The photo was shot on Highway 1 in Northern California. As you’ll see in most of my work I photo from the middle of the road but this one I found a perch on an adjacent hill and capture that view.

The title and text originate from my work around the idea that the horizon is an illusion, the historical references of photography “capturing a moment in time”, the undercurrent of existential responsibility for making the now, and the inspiring sea and landscape.
