Sun Mountain Wild Vision
Sun Mountain Wild Vision
Art Photography Book
Photographing the Sun is an Ouroboros. The conceptual and metaphorical abstractions of photography are our way into seeing the fields of seeing, of considering self, the world around us, of how we make meaning through what we witness, and seeing the transformative power of landscape.
Photography means drawing with light, and I photograph the Sun, drawing its light with the light itself. In the land and seascape I saturate colors and create the tone of experience by performing the image capture in the opposite of traditional photography’s decisive moment, but instead in what I call a visual time signature, a still cinema of experience.
Reading these artworks may be challenging. The process, material and conceptual inspiration for the imagery is symbolic. I entrust the reader to decipher their own meaning from the abstracted documentation of light, as if reading text in a book, an abstract, narrative, visual tone poem. Consider what we take for granted, structures both psychological and of social civilization, and consider what it means to escape to a level of freedom in which you can see for yourself anew, in the natural state of being.
